Omnimo new Win8 Panels previewby ^fediaFedia

Customization / Desktop Screenshots / Windows

This will be an update to Omnimo 4:

So... seeing how the Windows 8 interface is gaining momentum, I decided to improve Omnimo 4 a little by fine tuning some of the details. Most of you probably know that Omnimo was based off of Windows Phone 7, so naturally, right after the Win8 demo, I simply didn't have time to work out all the small visual details, aside from the colors. Well, now I did.

In the last week or so, I've been working on what you see in the screenshot. Most notably the improvements in the area of making Omnimo look almost exactly pixel perfect to Windows 8 (oh the curse of being a perfectionist). But here is the list of things I'm planning for the next revision:

> User reported bug fixes
> Windows 8 Skin for Panels (fullview this screenshot to see the difference)
> A bunch of new Win8 like panels + some interesting new ones (hoping to make at least 10)
> A few new languages
> Reincarnated Twitter support
> And whatever other crazy ideas come to my mind

You're probably asking - when will this revision be available. Unfortunately even I don't know, like everyone else, I'm waiting for Rainmeter 2.1 release along with the much anticipated oAuth Twitter plugin made by =Poiru (author of some of the most incredible recent plugins). When it's ready, I'll be sure to bring life back to all of the Twitter items, as well as the new Win8 one you can see in the screenshot.

Hey, I'm glad you have made this skin but are you not worried about Microsoft asking you to close this project or sue you? I understand you were the first one with the desktop interface but stating that you are now copying windows 8 to make it pixel perfect seems a bit much. Personally, I think windows 8 and your skin each look amazing. However, looking at how windows 8 works in the demo it does not seem to be very practical for getting work done with a keyboard and mouse although I'm sure windows 8 tablets will be great. Anyway I wish you all the best and hope you can continue with this project without Microsoft's interference.

P.S.
It will be fun to freak my co workers out with this one

Where did you get the idea that microsoft might have a problem with this?

Cool, I'm really glad! Not trying to take sides or anything - not against you or microsoft. I just got curious after seeing a video demonstration of Microsoft new windows 8 layout today. The fist thing I thought was this is exactly like Omnimo and then it made me curious about what will happen with your project and how Microsoft would/will respond since they look so alike! Anyway as I said I'm glad that Microsoft is taking such a good stance with this. I think they should donate too as I believe they got many ideas for the layout tiles from your work, even though you got your concept from the win 7 phones.

Amazing work! I've been attempting to use Omnimo 3 to create a Windows 8 style desktop but it isn't possible.

Hey fediaFedia, i love your work, but is there anyway which we could have panels off screen, and then when we hit a button, they slide onscreen like in the Windows 8 UI Demo, if you carnt do this, your work is amazing anyway
